Presidential Volunteer Service Awards
The Presidential Volunteer Service Award is a national opportunity to honor outstanding volunteers and to recognize their impact. While not a Girl Scout award, the Presidential Volunteer Service Award is awarded by age group in three tiers: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Congratulations and thank you to these hard-working young women!
Silver Award to Megan Trost
Congratulations to Megan Trost on receiving her Silver Award for her impressive project, which involved
the revitalization of The Evan’s City Sportsman Club pistol range. Megan enjoys recreational Archery and
shooting. Her family are members at the club. She noticed that one of the pistol ranges did not have a
table and the benches at all 3 shooting ranges were in poor condition.
To make the pistol ranges safe she constructed a table for one range and made new benches for all 3
ranges. This allows for safe placement of firearms and secure benches to use for shooting. She
recognized the need to use outdoor materials that would withstand weathering. Her dedication and
hard work in building the table and benches have made a significant improvement to the range’s
infrastructure, providing a safer environment for members of the club.
In addition to the physical improvements, Megan also posted range safety rules at the pistol ranges, so
everyone knows the rules of safe recreational shooting. It is important to her that safety is a priority for
anyone using the ranges.
Her project’s success highlights her dedication to her community and her commitment to making a
positive impact. Her Silver Award is a testament to her hard work, creativity, and leadership skills. She
was recognized at one of the Evans City Sportsman’s Club board meetings for her completed project.
Her project should serve as an inspiration to others to get involved in community service and make a
difference in their local communities. Her efforts have not only benefited the Sportsman Club but have
also provided a safer and more enjoyable experience for those who use the pistol range.
Congratulations once again on her well-earned Silver Award.
Bronze Award Troop 42015
As part of their Bronze Award project, Troop 42015 planted vegetable and flower seeds last spring, took turns taking care of them, and replanted the in the rooftop garden at Ehrman Crest Elementary School.
The girls learned about using resources wisely and interacted with local business owners who supplied materials for th projects.
Coffee grounds from a local coffee shop were used for fertilizer and the girls toured the coffee shop to learn how the grounds were made and recycled.
The elementary students at Ehrman Crest will continue to plant in the garden each year providing vegetables for the school and the opportunity to learn about the plant life cycle and planting process.
