Neighborhood Service Project – Cancer Blankets
This year many families in our Cranberry Girl Scout community have been touched by cancer; even our Girl Scout founder, Juliette Gordon Low, died from untreated breast cancer. So in memory of our founder and in honor of today’s cancer warriors, the Cranberry Area Girl Scouts have decided that this year our neighborhood wide Service Project will be to make “No-Sew” blankets for the UPMC Cancer Center and other cancer treatment places around our area.
We are collecting fleece for blankets and then this fall all troops will be invited to get together for the making of the blankets. We are collecting cuts of 1.5 yards of fleece. Blanket donations are being accepted by individual troop leaders, in a collection bin at the Cranberry Municipal Center, or in a collection bin at Evans City Elementary/Middle School.
